Well, prepare yourselves, dearies. Those of you who followed my now-defunct former journal may remember a series of several months in which my posts were almost always accompanied by a series of bizarre numbers as I kept prodding myself along on the pathway to "the book is finished."

Welcome to my world, part deux.

Today, I got what feels like my first "real" full day of writing in (despite a lovely lunch break with ThrownMonkey and the girls)... I got more than 1400 words written today. I'm still behind, but I'm catching up. A few more days like this and I'll be back on track, August or not.

And so, for your voyeuristic pleasure:

I am officially 3523 words into my 80K second novel... This makes me 3/68ths done, or 4.40% finished.

82 days left to work on it. (It's not officially due til November 7th, but I'm setting my own deadline of October 31st, to give me a week to polish the first draft before I send it.)

I personally love those weird wordcount updates. I make them regularly. Um. Regularly when it's not summertime, anyway...

*Grin* Well, you'll get your fill of them in the next... 82 days... :)

*hugs*

Woot! Lots of words!

I feel that I may begin to make word-count updates with some frequency, as well.

I think you use your calculator as a diversion from writing… lol

Yeah, and visiting friends with coffee, too. :) It's got to be done.

I made a spreadsheet that automatically calculated how many days behind I was. A wonderful motivator.

Yeah, when I got close enough to my deadline to set a "percentage per day to finish it" goal, I did that, too. :) Well, a percentage behind. I'm still figuring out how to use Excel to work with dates...

I just had a column with 1 day per cell and used the COUNT function to get numbers of days and such.

Hey, sometimes I make wordcount updates based on the essays I write for school. At least yours are moving you closer to a finished creative product. :)
