In which we are amused...
Sep. 20th, 2005 04:46 pmI'm currently 37/47ths done with the book.
(Edited note: there's no special significance to this number, it just amused the hell out of me.)
This number, courtesy of the excel spreadsheet that I've got set up to calculate all kinds of goodness (number of words written [78705], days to deadline [11], words needed per day to complete by deadline [1935], estimated pages written [281], percentage completed (assuming 100K goal) [78.71%], ratio completed to 10ths [4/5ths], and ratio completed to 100ths [37/47ths]).
One more big fight scene to right, then some "modern" (ie: set in venezia) chapters to insert, then it will be ready to print, set aside and come back to in a few weeks for a massive edit before sending it out to its doom...er... to editors for rejection... I mean consideration.
*Grin*

Date: 2005-09-20 09:28 pm (UTC)So, is this another contracted book like your last one? I think working on a deadline like that would be hard... but you seem to be doing just fine. :)

Date: 2005-09-21 02:09 pm (UTC)Will you tell me what it is about?
I am sure it doesn't suck and since you already have published works, you have a food in the door!

Date: 2005-09-22 04:26 pm (UTC)I have a vampire book too, imagine that. :) It is in my brain anyway, a three book series that is a social commentary, focusing on free will versus peace and thoughtlessness. :)

Date: 2005-09-22 04:30 pm (UTC)I think mine's more of a coming of age story... I've got plans for a second focussing on "what happens next" in Venezia and a pre-history story for the male protagonist.
I will totally check yours out when it gets published. :) I think that's a theme that you'd be excellent at writing about!

Date: 2005-09-22 08:40 pm (UTC)You should definately do a sequal, I like getting to know characters in stories very well.
Thanks for your support. It is very nice to chat with you about this stuff, someone else who is going through the dream as well as the work!

What's Cruxshadows: the Cruxshadows are a goth-band that I personally think you would enjoy. Not to hard, extremely dancable, and a nice energy over all. plus the lead singer (a guy named rogue) is mega hot (yeah..I can admit that and still feel manly..) I can either send you mp3's or point you to their website, once I find it.
What time would you have to be here: Depends on how much hanging out you'd like to do before hand. I'm estimating maybe 2 hours travel time (or so..probably less, it's 1.5 hours to Haven roughly) so I personally would aim to be here around 4..that way even if you're late, you still have some hang out time, and a couple of hours before the show.
My house is 2 (or so) blocks from the place, so it's advantageous(sp?) to meet up there. If you have reservations about that I understand and can plan to be at an alternate location to meet up with you.
How's that for more info :-P

Date: 2005-09-21 03:07 pm (UTC)My only real concern is two-fold. One, I've got a garou game (the larp wrap up from the one that was at my house Sunday) that I've kind of said I'd be at, and 2, I'm still not done with my novel, Pat's dad arrives Wednesday (we think) and the difference between 7-midnight for garou and noon til the wee hours (Which makes Sunday a bad work day too) at this point may not be doable for me.
Do they play there often? IE: is this a local group, or a once-in-a-lifetime thing?

Date: 2005-09-21 03:21 pm (UTC)The good news is that they might be doing a show at Haven(Divas), but the bad news is that would be on tuesday the 27th (most likely), and probably a far worse day for you to hang out late.
It would be awesome if you could come out, but I'll understand if it's not doable.
