In which we are bargain hunting...
Aug. 24th, 2005 07:22 pmOkay, so Babylon 5 (the entire 5 season series) won the "what should we watch next" award, by virtue of popularity, completeness (it's already out on DVD) and interest (we've caught some of it here and there and liked it a great deal.)
Now comes the shopping.
The best price I'm finding for it is in the mid 60$ range, unless I buy some sort of foreign knock off, which I'm not really interested in doing. Eventually we'd like to buy the whole 5 season series, but we're definately interested in buying the first series immediately, as we just watched the last episode of Firefly (sigh).
Anyone have any hot tips on finding new or used copies of the first (or all five) season? Super bargain DVD sites? Stores with great sales? Friends looking to make some extra money clearing out theirs?
Let us know.

It'd probably be hard to beat joining Netflix and renting the disks. It's not really that cost-effective for movies you can easily get at your local video store, but it's great for the $300+ series that you can't easily rent elsewhere. (Including things like Anime.) Also great for non-Hollywood films.

Sorry, no tips on DVD buying, though that is a series I would like to own. I would probably just get them off Netflix.

Date: 2005-08-25 12:15 am (UTC)If we, say, order three movies, and they send them to us, can we send one back and keep the others for another bit, and rotate another one in as long as we don't hace more than 3 out at a time?
Because, for like the first season, it will take us about a month of dinners to watch all 22 episodes, but we'd like to be able to rotate other movies in and around them, so pat can watch things on evenings/weekends.

So yep, it works how you are assuming. :) I really like it. They have a pretty nice anime collection too! :)
