Things are beginning to settle here... Pat and I remarked to each other yesterday that it doesn't seem like we've only been here 12 days... there are still lots of boxes to empty, but they're mainly things we don't /need/. Books that will have to wait for a bookshelf, office stuff that will have to wait for more office furniture, seasonal or SCA stuff or memory boxes/mementos that will have to be brought up and stored long-term. But for now, with one cookie sheet, my electric griddle, one big pot and one fry pan, I'm cooking more than I have in weeks (And trying new recipes, which has been a blast).

Yesterday we went to the library and I came home with an armload of books... some on massachusetts, some on cooking (mmm... wraps and salad-suppers... not to mention a few on crock pot cookery and one on using your rice cooker for more than just... cooking rice... Who knew? We got ours for our wedding, almost 12 years ago, and while we use it at least once a week, I've never done anything more exotic with it than using broth in place of the water.)

We had to buy a new fridge fro the house, and it has an ice maker and water dispenser in it. Consequently, I'm drinking a lot more water (I think predominantly just for the novelty of using the new dispenser, but at least I'm building good habits).

Last night I made a fabulous taco salad for dinner, and today I got up and made the stuffing for rice and bean burritos (black beans, a bit of rice, some chopped peppers and onions and cilantro and a bit of picante sauce, all simmered together into a tasty mixture which, although now stuffed in the fridge, can be zapped at a moment's notice for quick lunches). I'm going to try to do more cooking and less "boxes" for meals. It was honestly not any harder/more time consuming to make up these wraps than it would have been to make hot dogs and mac and cheese, but my gods they taste a lot better.

We finally have garbage service set up, which is a relief, as we were starting to get overwhelmed with junk. It's all out at the curb now, awaiting pick up.

I'm going to go finish putting together the little computer desk we got for autumn, and the bookshelf that matches it, and then go hang up the laundry. I'm feeling horribly domestic of late. It's really kinda cool.

Oh, and tonight is the Bardic Night in the local barony, which I'm going to try to make it out to. And tomorrow, apparently, there is a non-camarilla Garou Larp that takes place in Amherst (15-20 minutes away)... I may go check it out.

We just moved too... though granted not nearly as far. We seem to be running in to make of the same things you are. I have so many things to unpack... and I feel bad for not unpacking them... but I simply can't because we lack the bookshelves or the desks, or the shelves or some other storage device to house them in.

We have tons of things to install also. Like most of the house does not have window coverings. Our bedroom was made private with wrapping paper. Ceiling fans, and over the stove Microwaves and garage door openers all have yet to be installed.

I am however enjoying the care and maintance that I have to give the yard so far. Although mostly its just watering the lawn.

I didn't know you were into SCA. I have been the equivalent to the barony lurker for years now. Mostly due to time. I have a full set of armor however that I am working on for fighting.

We *miss* you Jess. I'm glad you're settling in well, though. Give Pat a huge kiss for me.

Domestic?

What a grand time you are having! Sounds like fun on your end!

Know what you mean about the crock pot thing. Bought a bigger one a few months back, and we've been having a grand time with it. If you're looking for recipes, we've got a couple of family favorites that I wouldn't mind sharing!

*hugs*
