This made my day.

I know it's likely just a campaign trick, designed to bring in the easily gullible and soft-hearted (like me). But it still made me grin.

You know those letters kids write to famous folks as school projects? Obama wrote back.

Aw, that's too cute! And he is definitely a doting dad, so I could see him doing that.

I would like to hope it's true. From everything I have seen and read about the man, I think it is something he'd be likely to do -- at the very least have an aide take notes for the letter for him during his day so that he could quickly pen a response to the boy.

It's hard not to be jaded when it comes to politics. But there is something about this man that gives me hope. And that's something I haven't had for our leaders in a very, very long time. Never once since I've been voting, certainly. I hope it isn't all a facade. I really, really want him to be everything he seems. Even if it seems too good to be true. But I have to admit... I can't help but loving him. I really, really cant. And so... I hope it's true.

Some young staff person had a great time writing that, I'm sure. While I doubt Obama wrote the entire three-page letter himself, I'd bet a lot that he gave specific instruction to someone to reply, and make it great.
