Well, things are borderline back to normal today for the first time in a week and a half (okay, normal for us). Pat's back at work after 10 days off. Autumn's back in school after a 4 day week followed by a three day week.

I adore Patrick, more than I could ever put into words, I love having him home during the day, but it's very nice to have things back on my own schedule again.

Let's see, what else is new? Orycon this weekend. Before Thursday night I need to confirm that my business cards are getting printed and pick them up, make certain all the content is written for the web site, pick out an excerpt from In Northern Twilight to read on Sunday, call the vendors to see if they've received shipment on them (since apparently none have been delivered yet to any of the Vancouver area stores), do laundry, pack, tidy the house (more about that later), grocery shop for the girls for the weekend, put the final polishes on the werewolf novel and send it in... Yeah, I can do that all in three days. :)

So, my office is back upstairs now. Those of you who have been reading for a while may remember that almost a year ago we bought a new pillow-top king sized mattress (trading in our California King, which was longer, but narrower). Partly this was done because we both love pillow top mattresses. Partly because Cal-King sheets are such a pain to find. But the unexpected result of this new purchase was that we couldn't get the mattress down the stairs to the downstairs bedroom. So, we rather hurriedly swapped my upstairs office (formerly my son's bedroom) for our downstairs bedroom.

Which brings us to Sunday morning. I'd been working at the kitchen table (joys of a laptop and wireless connection) for a few days. Autumn had been having a hard time going to sleep, and honestly, if I'm not hard-pressed on a project, I like being up in the middle of things. As well, it's been very grey here, and as I said to Pat in passing as I was leaving to have a breakfast meeting with a friend "when it gets grey like this, it just gets harder and harder to lock myself in the dungeon".

"Maybe we should move your office back upstairs," says he. "But we can't get the mattress down the stairs, remember?" says I, on my way out the door.

You'd think, after almost 15 years together, that I'd learn not to say things like that. Patrick is /such/ a wonderful, thoughtful, spontaneous man...

I came home, 2 hours later, to find that he and my SCA Brother Hathawulf had torn apart the bed, forced the mattress and boxsprings down the staircase that we were /sure/ was too narrow to get the mattress down (pillowtops don't bend as easily as regular mattresses)...

So, we spent the next several hours moving all my office stuff upstairs and all the bedroom stuff downstairs. Things are still a bit chaotic (I'm such a pack rat, especially when it comes to books, and having very eclectic furniture that doesn't necessarily optimize space doesn't help.) But, my office is indeed back upstairs, taking advantage of what little light November in Washington provides.

That is, for the most part, my week.

Oh. And Vote Today. I did. You know you want to.

Partly because Cal-King sheets are such a pain to find.

Heh! You should've said something sooner; down here, the only King-sized sheets I've seen every time I've gone sheet shopping are CalKing! I'd begun wondering if CalKing had replaced King-sized beds entirely and that's why I was never seening plain ole 'King-sized' sheet sets anywhere.

Yes indeed, Pat kicks ass. (and so does Hath, from what I saw at coronation) :]
By the way, say high to Patrick for me. I tried to email him at the address Jen gave me, and I got a bounce.
I hope you have a good time at Orycon. Remind Jen to get me a copy of INT, so I can read it and post reviews all over. :)
