In which we ask for inspiration...
Nov. 8th, 2003 09:53 pmDo any of you keep a quote or saying near where you're working to inspire you?
I have a few that I keep where I can see them when I'm writing...
"All that we see or seem is just a dream within a dream." - Edgar Allan Poe
"Well behaved women rarely make history" - Laurel Thatcher Ulrich
and perhaps my favorite is a quote my husband sent to me. It's by John Wesley Powell, and refers to his explorations on the Colorado river, but I think it's a beautiful statement about life and love as well.
"We have an unknown distance yet to run,
an unknown river to explore.
What falls there are, we know not;
what rocks beset the channel, we know not;
what walls rise over the river, we know not;
more wonder than your deepest dreams waits for us -
beyond the next turning of the canyon walls."
