I sent out a total of three "would you read my book and possibly make comment on it" requests... For ease of communication, these will be known in the future as "blurb" requests, although it's sort of a given that there's no guarantee the folks will find anything to say about your book, and you may even get negative feedback (Which is still feedback and, therefor, I think a good thing. The scariest thing I can think of (almost) would be never getting any feedback at all, and just feeling like maybe noone ever read the book you worked so hard to write... At least negative feedback, you can learn from.)

Anyway... last week, sent out three blurb requests... Got one "Gimmee" immediately, which was thrilling. For those of you who haven't read Jim Butcher, you need to. Not only is he an incredible storyteller, but he's a /fantastic/ guy. "The Dresden Files" are fabulous and need to be ready by anyone who plays Cam, likes Charles De Lint's work, or has a soft spot for heroes who have /everything/ go against them and still manage to make it through to do what's right.

Got a rather surprising "sure, send it, but I can't make any promises" from Jacqueline Carey, author of the Kushiel's Legacy series. Surprising because, although I met her this summer at Writer's Weekend, I found out (After I sent the email requesting one) that she doesn't normally read other folks' work on request. But I'm thrilled and excited about the possibility.

The third response was, if anything more informatory. Not only did Emma Bull (author of War for the Oaks, the quintessential urban fae novel in my mind, as well as five or six other really good books and co-author of Freedom and Neccessity with Steven Brust), say that she'd take a look at it (when she got time) but she gave me some great advice on industry stuff and in general was just a fantastic person. She also is currently living in Bisbee Arizona, where Pat grew up, which was uber-neat.

Anyway... Three requests, three yesses.... I can't complain.
