The weekend was lovely. It rained Friday, and then rained and rained some more... Got out to site around 10am, put up Baronial pavillion in the rain, put up Baron and Baroness' yurt (again in the rain) although it had mostly stopped by the time Pat arrived and we put up our yurt.

Saturday is a blur. Ran around doing alot of... stuff... sat gate for a while, helped people with things, visited with Duchess Hlutwige and HL Constance about royal court, visited with Master Conchobar who helped me tune the harp he's loaned me, as well as performed with him for the King and Queen's dinner with Their Excellencies. Got many complements on my voice, which never fails to amaze me.

Some mundane teenagers were messing around with the sink in the permanent bathrooms and somehow managed to seperate it from the wall, which resulted in a big pain in the neck situation including several hours of my hubby and others filling toilet tanks with water from 5 gallon buckets to keep the toilets functional while the water was off for repairs.

But, I managed to talk him into taking a break for court, and with great joy, was honored to herald his being entered into the Right Noble Order of the Goutte de Sange (the mid-level service award for our kingdom). It's been 20 years since he's received a kingdom level award (scary, for someone who does so much!) and I was so thrilled that Their Majesties saw fit to do so.

Then, I immediately stepped over and ran Baronial Court, which was very cool too.

We packed up Sunday early and were offsite by 11, which was good, because it was miserable hot. And it's still miserable hot.

Yesterday, I just couldn't get any writing done. It just wouldn't come. So I went to bed at a reasonable hour and got up at o-dark-thirty (5:45am) and have managed to strain about 600 words out of my brain onto the page (er... file)... Not great, but more than yesterday, and the day is still young.

Now I'm going to go take a shower and get dressed and take the girls to meet ThrownMonkey for lunch since I haven't seen him in forever and ever. When I get back, I'll either take a nap or write more, depending on how groggy headed I am...

Well, prepare yourselves, dearies. Those of you who followed my now-defunct former journal may remember a series of several months in which my posts were almost always accompanied by a series of bizarre numbers as I kept prodding myself along on the pathway to "the book is finished."

Welcome to my world, part deux.

Today, I got what feels like my first "real" full day of writing in (despite a lovely lunch break with ThrownMonkey and the girls)... I got more than 1400 words written today. I'm still behind, but I'm catching up. A few more days like this and I'll be back on track, August or not.

And so, for your voyeuristic pleasure:

I am officially 3523 words into my 80K second novel... This makes me 3/68ths done, or 4.40% finished.

82 days left to work on it. (It's not officially due til November 7th, but I'm setting my own deadline of October 31st, to give me a week to polish the first draft before I send it.)
