In which we have a hell of a day.
Oct. 12th, 2004 10:05 pmI don't know what the heck was up with today.
My writing partner, Brian, missaved and lost a 1500 word section of his book... I ran into what may be a semi-large pain in the butt in mine (hopefully I'll figure out a way to make it work)... Then I somehow managed to revert my word count data base back to a "more than a week ago" version and had to recreate it.
But, despite all that, I wove in some character bits that were dangling loose, including one scene that managed to bring in two unrelated secondary characters that I wanted to get a bit more "onscreen" time in what I think was both a plausible and uber-nifty fashion. And, I went back and tightened up the first few chapters, added some more of one of the villians "onscreen" before his death, and explained away an inconsistancy or two.
But the big news is... I passed the 75% mark!
I'm now more than 60K words into the 80K book, with really just the last major pre-fight/last fight/interuption of fight/really truly last fight/post-fight left to write. It should flow pretty quickly, barring unforseens (like me misinterpretting the rules so that I have to go back and fix things to mesh with canon... again)
I'm still having some problems with one bit of "trying to get it to match what's been already written" but I think I have a solution or two up my sleeve for that. I'm still letting it perk while I edit a bit more and weave more of the loose strings in to tighten the tapestry before the "last fight" portion begins.
Total Word Count: 60166
Total Percentage: 75.21% (Squee!)
Total Pages Written (out of 288): 214
Number of days left before my deadline: 19
Words per day to meet deadline: 1043
Tomorrow, Pat will be out of town, and I'm not going to be able to go to Embers, so I'm going to try to stay up late and get a huge amount done.

Date: 2004-10-12 11:12 pm (UTC)Thank you, honey.
I'm in the home stretch of this one, now... It seems like it's been /forever/ although I know it's been a relatively short time I've been working on it.
Thank you for all your friendship and support, and for driving across town to come see my book when it came. It really did mean the world to me. :)
