In which we press the flesh.. virtually...
Oct. 1st, 2004 03:20 pmRealized that if In Northern Twilight is available November 1st, it would be lovely to have someone selling copies at Orycon. Started calling bookvendors listed as being in the dealer's room and explaining, and may have made bookstore contacts in Eugene, Burien and Portland about it, including "In Other Words", the women's bookstore on Hawthorne in Portland that I would have never thought about marketing my book to otherwise.
Also ended up, through a strange series of "You might want to call blah..." events, talking to Duane, the guy in charge of Sci-Fi for University Bookstore in Seattle (apparently a huge store)... I offered to stop by in January when I am coming up for a booksigning at a comic store in Seattle, and he tenatively invited me to come up in December for a Sci-Fi night they've been doing once or twice a year up there, with local authors and such... It's on a Wednesday, but I bet I can make it!
Didn't get a huge amount written so far today, but I did wrap up two different scenes, tucking all the threads in nicely. I'll probably do more tonight, but I think I might like to take a nap first. Two nights at Embers in a row make Jess a sleepy girl.

Date: 2004-10-01 03:59 pm (UTC)The University Bookstore's downtown location is diagonally located from where I work. If I sat in a different desk, I could see it right now. :-)
But they may be talking about the University District location. Sounds like an interesting event, in either case.
Enjoy your fame!

Date: 2004-10-04 07:54 am (UTC)I'd like nothing more than to come down and do a weekend long flurry down there. I'm talking with the lady from Book Universe to make sure they have some of my stuff in stock at Orycon, but I would love to arrange a signing some time this winter, and stopping by any other places that stock my stuff and get it signed for them and make-nice-nice so folks have a good idea in their head when they see my name...
If you just have some ideas of places to check with, that would be lovely... Names of places that carry White Wolf fiction, or other media tie-ins, or anime/manga type stuff...
Chuck's doing something similar for me down in the SF area...
Thank you!
