In which we return...
Jul. 26th, 2004 08:28 amFor those of you who didn't know, I'm back from the Writer's Weekend. (www.writersweekend.com)
I cannot say enough about this conference. It was incredible. I learned more about the writing industry in one weekend than I have managed to glean in a couple of years of trying to pry the information out of other folks virtually, poring over writer's publications and other ineffective means of self-education.
I made great contacts, and great friends.
I drank cocktails til 3am with Jacqueline Carey and drove Jim Butcher and his lovely wife to get Starbucks and Burger King. I watched a best selling author help bus tables in her little black dress and uber-pointy shoes at midnight after a masked ball. I sipped champagne til the wee hours, while discussing Abraham Lincoln trivia and Middle Eastern socio-political climates.
I cannot /begin/ to express what a wonderful, inspiring, educational, enriching conference this was. If you have /any/ desire to write, you should go. Next year, it will be in North Carolina, and I'm going to find a way to be there.
