*hugs* Good luck! I'll miss you! (not that we see much of each other, LOL, but I'll miss knowing I can see you.) Wish Pat the best for me.

I'll need an address, of course, so I can mail you stuff and maybe come visit.
(What part of MA is it again? Is it near a big airport? Logan?)
snif. I don't want you to go away. snif.
Okay, that part's done now.
Woo! Yay new job, yay new life.

I get to move home and now you are moving away. Know any good houses for sale in Vancouver?

It's in Western Massachusetts, Northampton to be exact. It's about 45 minutes directly north of Logan (That's in Hartford Connecticut, yes?) or about 2 hours west of Boston.

*hugs*

I'm sad about leaving, but excited about the new possibilities!

Actually, I know of an adorable 1949 bungalo in a quiet area of town. About 1000 square feet on the main floor with the same below in a partially finished basement (which has another room we use as a bedroom, but because it's only got those little basement windows we can't sell it as one) as well as a huge storage room, laundry room with pantry and a rec room.

Hardwood floors everywhere but the kitchen (lineoleum) and bathroom (ceramic stone-look tile) upstairs. Detatched single car garage that's been converted into a shop.

The only drawback (And what basically drove us to look for a change) is the neighbors on both sides have punk-ass kids with attitudes and criminal tendencies and at least the potential of mental problems. Somehow, the idea of you moving in here just made me smile, and not in my normally nice way. I'd love to see them when they realize that Papa Smith is the new owner. :)

But seriously, if you're looking for something similar, let us know and we'll show you the place. We'll probably be putting it on the market in the next week or so and could afford to lower the price to split what a realtor would have cost us in fees if we sold it before we hired one.

How long until the move?

They want him to start around the first of July, and Autumn has school until the 24th of June, so we'll be physically moving between those dates.

You're moving to Lesbianville!
And the hometown of Jonathan Edwards!!! (Who was not a lesbian.)
I AM coming to visit. Maybe before you move. Maybe in MA. I AM coming to visit,
OMG I know someone in Lesbianville.

However, not being a lesbian there is okay. They're liberals.

Wow, I thought Eugene, Oregon was the official center of the Lesbian world...

Northampton is fabulous, at least the bits we saw in our visit. I'm going to be heading out there some time next month to house hunt. Visiting would probably be best after the move rather than before, but we'd love to have you!

I should be down in the area either Friday or Saturday and would love to take a look. I might be able to arrange financing if it would be a good fit.

Besides after some of the places I have had to live over the years I think there will be little problem dealing with a couple of wigger punk ass adolescent bitches in very short order.

The big question is do their parents give a shit at all about their get? If so it wraps up quick. If not it wraps up a little bit slower...but still wraps up one way or the other in the end.

Drop us a line (jess at jesshartley dot com) and I'll send you our phone number. We've got Autumn's school carnival friday night, and I've got a book signing/event early saturday morning but other than that we'll be around (and the thing Friday night won't run too late). We'd love to show you the place (Although the front yard and such are not yet up to what I'd like them to be before we put it "out to show".)

The parents are, on one side, a likely mentally diseased/disabled woman trying to raise 3 kids on her own with not nearly enough social skills (but she's related to the off-site owner in some way, so likely won't move) and, on the other side, a mostly-absent mom with a possible live-in boyfriend. They do give a shit, but have pretty much lost control of the 11 year old. Flat out told me to call the cops last time he and his friend were tearing up saplings down the street.

Don't get me wrong, there are some /great/ folks in the neighborhood too. And, for the most part, even the negative stuff is low level. No guns, no rampant vandalism, and the breakins stopped several years ago when one of the older kids went to jail for almost a year.

But with us having a 10 year old daughter, I just don't like the kinds of kids who are bracketing us on each side, and I wouldn't sell the house to a friend without being straight with them about it.

I'll likely be in Baja in June, but if that doesn't work out, I might come north.
Ethan emailed me and was rather conciliatory in his tone. He amended much of what I sent it...did he keep the bamboo people?
I am reading Cusack's Bamboo World and enjoying it immensely for the practical advice, despite his prejudice toward the clumping species.
I want more bamboo!!! Whoohoo!!!!
Always wanted to see good old Massachusetts. Maybe Christmastime? I am a Puritan after all. I can preach a bit at Edwards' church and then tell you what you are Doing Wrong. It'll be fun.

By the time I got feedback from him (or rather, got word that I wouldn't be getting feedback from him) on the prelim stuff I'd sent, he'd already sent the prelim on to production, so I didn't get to add bamboo people or several other neat things I'd hoped to.

S'what I get for waiting, I suppose. I'm living and learning.

Pity. I'll make sure to use them in my WoD game that I'm running now brown cow.
Ethan's email seemed to suggest that he would like to work with me again.
Listening to Chess It's not just that I love the game: the music is nice too.
Call me if you like, tonight or any other.

Fare thee very well

Alas no more looking forward to that next party at the Hartley's.
However I wish you all well. Great family, you deserve whatever good fortune you can wrestle out of life.

Wow...
