I /love/ corsetry. However, decent quality corsets are expensive, and honestly for the last year or two I've had neither the location nor the figure to wear the one I have well.
Let me clarify by saying that, as a societal requirement in order to shape a woman to a particular body-form, I'm anti-corset. I'm talking solely "self-induced, self-pleasing" corsetry here.
I have a beautiful black silk, steel-boned corset that the viking bought me as a 5th anniversary present. It is one of my motivating factors in losing weight again. I was probably a size 12 when I bought it. I'm now at 16, and it no longer fits well. And, out of pure vanity, I refuse to buy another until I can fit back into that one. :)
For me, there's something very sensual about the "hip-spring ratio", the technical term for the difference between the waist measurement and the hip one. It's a very feminine curve, for me, and something that is accentuated in the style of corset I prefer (on me). I love the way I look in a corset. I also love the way it feels... A good corset supports the back, holds one's posture tight but not painfully. It should just feel good to wear, like a day-long hug.
