in which we update...

Just a quick update... I made it to Oregon. The Valkyrie and I left Friday at noon when she got out of school, and made it as far as Needles on Friday before stopping at a motel for a quick sleep. Saturday we made it to Vacaville to visit the Viking's brother and his family, and Sunday we made it to Albany, here to my sister's house. The last three days have been a frenzy of last minute shopping, helping her with her daycare (she had surgery last week and is mobile but not up to snuff yet) and cooking. We've had a chance to visit with the older daughter (NotGeekGirl) and her fiance, NiceBoy, but not with the son (Geekboy) or daughter-in-law (QuietGirl). Hopefully the weather will allow us to sneak up to Vancouver, WA to pick them up and bring them back down here tomorrow night (everyone keep your fingers crossed for non-icy weather for a few hours, please?)  It would suck to have come this far in part to see them and not be able to get to them because of ice all week.

I miss the Viking terribly. This is the first Yule in almost 20 years we've not been together, and I feel like my heart is elsewhere. I'm staying busy, helping out my family here, but I'm never quite right when he's not around.  I can't wait to get back home and see him again.
