Lots of folks carry their portfolios around cons. I've frequently been asked to look at them, despite having no artistic talent myself and nothing to do with the art side of White Wolf's niche in the industry.
David's work is one of the few times I've actually /asked/ to look an artists work (based on a small sketch he was doing in character during our LARP, and then asked to see more, and then asked him to send me links to the rest of his work.
He's amazing. Every time I look at his stuff I think "Damn, I want to figure out something to work on with him!"
