In which we do a quick update...
Aug. 4th, 2008 02:57 pmI've been in Connecticut at Connecticon this past weekend. In fact, I'm still there, actually. My flight leaves around 6pm here, and I'll be back home (knock on wood) around 1am... And back at the day job by 8am. *cringe*
It's been an interesting and eventful weekend, including making a lot of new friends, doing some great panels, playing in a few games and doing a lot of networking. More on all fronts when I'm home and a bit saner...

It's been an interesting and eventful weekend, including making a lot of new friends, doing some great panels, playing in a few games and doing a lot of networking. More on all fronts when I'm home and a bit saner...
Challenges included:
- Plane to Dallas being emergency landed in El Paso, with the ensuing difficulties of reconnecting to Dallas to catch a flight to Hartford
- Plane to Hartford being delayed on the tarmac because of a lack of air conditioning (did I mention it was 100+ in Dallas at the time?)
- Arriving to discover that my hotel reservation at the con hotel for the full weeekend had been cancelled when I didn't arrive on the night they expected (despite them having been told by the con that I had been delayed overnight)
- Spending the first night off-site and then having to do some finagling to get back into the con hotel for the remainder of the weekend
- Running on very little sleep (even for a con)
Highlights included:
- Receiving two dozen long-stemmed Argentinian roses from my darling lordhusband, The Viking, for our 17th Wedding Anniversary (pictures will follow as soon as I get home and can download them off my camera)
- Having so many offers of crash space when my hotel situation didn't work out as planned
- The Viking being my advocate/savior when it came to getting back into the con hotel
- Members of the con staff (and former con staff) who went above and beyond the call of duty to get me where I needed to be and to help keep me sane
- Meeting a wide variety of industry and gamer friends, and potentially doing some networking to expand my professional writing in some new directions
- Hot Tub... I'm just saying.
- Vampire and Changeling LARP - both were small but very very fun
- Walking into my "Do's and Don'ts of Writing for the RPG Industry" panel to find not only a full room of 50+ people (with folks standing in the back) but also some dear friends (and co-workers!) hidden among their numbers
- This morning's leak about some new Lost products - Check out the fourth line on the Team World of Darkness entry!
- Doing an audio interview with Wolf-Blooded Gamer Podcast
- Hearing that a lot of folks had already voted for Changeling: The Lost in the ENnie awards
- Coming Home
