The Great Trip West - day Three
Jul. 26th, 2007 09:30 amWell, Day two went exceptionally well. We made decent time, travelling from Syracuse, NY to Columbus, Ohio. We swam twice (once before leaving the hotel in NY, once upon arriving here in Columbus at almost-11pm) We had lunch at Olive Garden with Jack and Christie and dinner at Aladdin's with Matt and Heather and Teagan. We did not run out of gas, get a flat or receive speeding tickets. All in all, an exceptionally good day.
Today, we're travelling from Columbus, OH to St. Louis, MO (actually, Shiloh, IL, which is just across the river from St. Louis.) It's only about 6.5 hours driving time, but we have to go through the middle of Indianapolis, so it may take us a little longer. Once in St. Louis, we'll stay two nights, which will allow us to stop and see the zoo and farmer's market, hopefully. (We're also looking for a book store where we can find One Piece #8, as Autumn's burned through her road trip manga already!)
Saturday morning, we're going to get up early and set out to do a long driving day - 13.5 hours or more, straight across Kansas to Denver, where we will once again spend a full extra day so we can see the zoo and generally relax a bit before heading for Flagstaff.
For those who are following the adventure, the pets arrive safely Monday night in Tucson, where they were picked up by our kennel and transported down to Bisbee where they will be boarded until we arrive. All is well!
Thanks to all of you who have wished us safe journeys. So far, so good!
