In which we ask for good thoughts...

The Viking is one of two finalists for a Dir. of Tech. position for a county in rural Southeastern Arizona.

This would be a very good position for him. It's government work, which would allow him to supplement the 15 years in education technology he's accumulated thus far. It's a raise, and the position has not only its own office, but its own secretary and finance manager for the tech department.

And it's in the town he went to high school in, so he's got some history there.

Cost of living is about 20% lower than here in Taxachussets. And it's about 4 hours drive to my parent's home in Yuma, and while flying out of Tucson to visit the kids in Oregon is almost as expensive as flying out of Bradley, it's a 4-5 hour jump rather than a 10-11 hour one, each way. Bit difference on how often we could visit, since the full-day flights mean weekend trips are almost worthless (even on a three day weekend, one day out, one day back means one day there.)

So... Please keep your fingers crossed for us. His boss already knows (she was called before he was informed he was in the running. That bit of unprofessionalism on their part is going to make it tense here if he doesn't get the job, so that's an extra little "yes, please" for moving to Bisbee.)

Woke up at 4:35am, couldn't go back to sleep (-)
Played Total Annihilation without guilt because I was the only one up (+)
Took hot shower, and it was /scalding/ hot, the way I like it (+)
Checked in with the Viking and had a good talk/snuggle (+)
Decided to go down to Ikea (I'd never been) (+)
Stopped at Crackerbarrel for Breakfast (+)
Made it down to Connecticut safe (+)
Found frame we thought would fit Thomas Canty Print * the Viking bought me years ago and we'd never framed (+)
Found some shelves for the Valkyrie's room (+)
Found stone mortar and pestle I've wanted for years (+)
Found pot for aloe plant that was given to us yesterday (+)
Valkyrie got tired and threw pre-teen fit (-)
Ate Lingonberries and Swedish Meatballs and various desserts (+)
Flat tire on the freeway at 85 (-)
Had to change tire on side of road (-)
The Viking changed it without incident (+)
Stopped at Enfield mall to get tire replaced, and found out alignment was off on car (-)
While wandering mall waiting for tire to get fixed, found Wii! (+)
Shopped for school shoes for the Valkyrie - Relapse of pre-teen fit (-)
Found some new school shoes for the Valkyrie (+)
Got home safe (+)
Ordered pizza (+)
Print fit perfectly in frame (+)
Aloe too big for pot, but seperated it out and managed to get all bits in soil, one way or another (-+)
The Viking is setting up the Wii!! (+)

Looks like, as always, although there were some down points of the day, it all turned out very + in the end! :)
