In which we wax poetic...

Taken from deliciouspear:

After you read this, write a little poem or take one you already wrote and post it in your journal!

Written quite a while ago... I think it would make interesting song lyrics...

A Matter of Time

Slow lights blinkin’ in a hospital bed,
Tubes and cords and lines
Heart still beatin, but she’s really dead
It’s just a matter of time.

And they say:
There’s nothing we can do for her now,
It’s really just a matter of time
All we can do is make her comfortable
And keep her out of pain.

His whole life workin’ to keep his family fed
Taxes, debts and fines
His back is broken, and he’s almost dead,
It’s just a matter of time.

And they say:
There’s nothing we can do for him now,
It’s really just a matter of time
All we can do is make him comfortable
And keep him out of pain.

Slowly bleedin’, sprawled across her bed
Broken bones and lies
He won’t come back this time, left her for dead,
It was just a matter of time.

And they say:
There’s nothing we can do for her now,
It’s really just a matter of time
All we can do is make her comfortable
And keep her out of pain

Busy runnin’ just to stay ahead
Holding his place in line.
He’s livin’ high, but his heart is dead,
It’s just a matter of time.

Do they see?
There’s nothing we can do for him now,
It’s really just a matter of time
All this work just makes him comfortable
And keeps him out of pain.

No one lookin’ very far ahead
No one sees the signs
Our lives are empty, and our souls are dead
It’s just a matter of time
