Goinked from [livejournal.com profile] eddyfate  and brought to you, because I love...

In light of recent announcements, some fans have expressed concern over the future of electronic (PDF) format book sales in the RPG industry. White Wolf Publishing today has announced that it currently has no plans to discontinue its existing PDF products.

“Quite the opposite,” says Eddy Webb, the Alternative Publishing Developer for White Wolf. “I believe this is a growing market with potential we haven’t yet had a chance to fully explore, both as publishers and as fans of role-playing games.” Eddy remarked that he has dozens of upcoming PDF-exclusive products on his schedule in addition to continuing to provide PDF versions of upcoming products, and that White Wolf is still actively looking into returning to the print-on-demand arena.

To celebrate White Wolf’s continuing devotion to PDF products and reward their growing, loyal fan base, the company is offering a free download of the Exalted Second Edition rulebook as well as a one-time 10% discount on the purchase of any White Wolf PDF titles through DriveThruRPG.com and RPGNow.com. Simply enter the coupon code wwlovesyou to receive the discount. Both offers expire by midnight (EST) on Sunday, April 12th.

Great time to check out Exalted, if you're in the mood for some fantasy rp with an exotic flavor, or to round out your pdf library - May I suggest the newest Changeling: The Lost product, Dancers In the Dusk? The discount takes it down to right at 20 bucks if you use the wwlovesyou code.

Unfortunately, there is not (yet) a "jesslovesyou" code, but know that I do, anyway!

I'm continually amazed at how flippin' awesome and wickedly smart the Valkyrie is.

She's doing some Social Studies homework and they're discussing the Civil Rights movement. She noticed that, while African-Americans are referred to as such in her text, they still refer to Caucasian people as "Whites" (note not only color reference, but capitalization).

She came to ask me about this, and we had a great discussion about underlying (rather than blatant) racism, the good/evil, clean/dirty analogies of calling people by color labels (especially white/black) and the like.

Afterwards, she wrote up a very nice and polite letter to her teacher and requested that they discuss this example of inherent and underlying racism in the class, because it was a very specific example of how even in a text that pre-supposes that the hey-day of racism has passed, remnants of those times still remain.

I hope that he (and the rest of the class) are up for the discussion.
